Safety Data Sheets

A safety data sheet has been established for years to provide relevant safety information along the supply chain for substances and mixtures classified according to specific criteria. It must be compiled following Article 31 and Annex II of the EU REACH legislation (No. 453/2010).

Its purpose is to convey information about the particular substance, its hazardous properties, measures in case of fire, health hazards, storage and handling. It presents crucial information for personnel who come into contact with the substance in question (for example, workers in the industry where the substance is used) and for medical personnel who care for individuals in the event of threatening health conditions caused by this substance.

REACH

The acronym REACH applies to manufacturing, placing on the market, and using pure substances in mixtures or articles. REACH requires manufacturers to provide information about properties of chemicals and ways to reduce the risk of their use. In addition, it provides REACH users with relevant information on safe use and potential adverse effects.

CLP labelling system

The CLP regulation on classification, labelling and packaging of dangerous substances and mixtures was adopted in the form of European Parliament Regulation no. 1272/2008. Implementing the provisions of the CLP regulation, which is the essential tool of the REACH regulation, means implementing the ideas of sustainable development.

The main goal of the regulation is to find out what dangerous properties a chemical has, to convey this information to the user via the label and safety data sheet, and thus enable more conscious, rational and responsible use both at the local and global level.

The regulation is based on the GHS (Globally Harmonized System), which is globally unified hazardous chemicals labelling system.
